equipping families
Hearts Behind the Heros Logo

This initiative imparts a deeper understanding of the unique challenges and trauma that these individuals face in their professions. By participating, families gain valuable insights into their loved ones  daily struggles and the weight of responsibility they carry, which may often go unnoticed and unspoken.

The program explains the signs and symptoms of deep suffering such as depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and other psychological challenges that veterans and emergency responders may experience.

"A happy heart (laughter) does good like a medicine...but a broken spirit saps a persons strength." Proverbs 17:22

Moreover, Hearts Behind The Hero emphasizes the importance of effective communication between responders or veterans and their families. It provides practical strategies for improving dialogue, enabling family members to create a safe space where mental health can be openly discussed without fear of judgment or stigma - and effective strategies to mitigate/overcome the stressors that may seem insensitive or contraindicated.

Ultimately, this program builds stronger family bonds, enhances mutual understanding, and promotes mental wellness for both responders and their loved ones. Through shared experiences and education, families can better navigate the complexities of emergency service together, gaining resilience and hope within their relationships.
